FARE Fact

Truly sustainable

What precisely does sustainability mean?

Everyone talks about sustainability, yet it is only an abstract concept for many people. The principle that has its origins in forestry is as simple as it is practical: anyone who only cuts down the number of trees that can grow again is ensuring the continued existence of the entire forest – and thus a good, long-term resource base for future generations.

A protective umbrella – for people and the environment

At FARE®, we see sustainability as a combination of our company’s social, economic and ecological areas of activity, which are integrated into our core business. We would like to strengthen our customer relationships and retain our employees at our company for the long term.

Sustainability as a permanent process

From the idea to the strategy to concrete actions in different areas, we have set out on the path to a more sustainable future…

waterSAVE® cover material protects the environment

In two ways: we use recycled plastics to produce the yarn for our cover materials, which are then dyed using a resource-saving process. This saves water and energy and protects the environment!

From 2022, all FARE® umbrellas with waterSAVE® cover material are available in a total of six different standard colours, including bright, fresh shades such as red and lime.

The FARE® ÖkoBrella family has gained new additions

Since FARE brought the first bamboo regular umbrella onto the market in 2011, the ÖkoBrella family has grown steadily. In 2021, two new basic models were the perfect addition to the family the ÖkoBrella Shopping with sustainable dual use became a bestseller. This year, two new basic models are the perfect addition to the family: the attractively priced AC regular umbrella (Art. 1134) and the manually opened mini umbrella (Art. 5029). Only logical in fact: In 2022 the ÖkoBrella Shopping “V2” (Art. 9158) comes with a real wood handle and the waterSAVE cover material. ÖkoBrella products are suitable for sustainable communications in all sectors and for every budget.

On site at FARE

Sustainability and social responsibility take place on many levels. We would like to retain our employees with their know-how for the long term. We support both local and national associations and initiatives with cash and non-cash donations.

With our participation in the 11th round of the EcoProfit project, we wanted to improve our company’s environmental footprint. After 12 months of project work and a digital audit that lasted more than two hours, we successfully received the award as an “ECOPROFIT company”.

On site at our suppliers

Our long-term supplier relationships have contributed to the establishment of modern production facilities. This makes a resource-conserving use of materials possible, in injection moulding, in the water treatment or in a new dyeing process that virtually manages without water and additional chemicals. One of our most important production facilities has installed a solar plant and thus contributes to the reduction of the CO2 emissions during production.

Greater transparency in the supply chain

In order to maintain the transparency of our supply chain with regard to social standards, and also to achieve improvements beyond this, we became a member of the amfori BSCI as early as 2013. The amfori BSCI is an initiative for companies that are campaigning for an improvement in the working conditions and basic human and worker rights in the manufacturing companies.
