Screen printing or digital transfer: Which technique is right for your umbrella?
Both methods reliably apply your logo to an umbrella or parasol. We explain the differences – and which technique is best suited to your project.
Why the choice of printing technique matters
Your logo is on display on the umbrella every day – in the rain, in the sun, and whilst you’re out and about. The printing technique determines colour vibrancy, design variety and the most cost-effective print run. If you understand the differences, you can choose the right solution for your budget and design. FARE uses either screen printing or digital transfer, depending on your requirements. As umbrella specialists based in Remscheid, we support you every step of the way, from the initial idea to the finished promotional umbrella.

Screen printing: the tried-and-tested method
In screen printing, a stencil applies the ink to the cover in full, opaque layers, panel by panel. This method is one of the oldest and most reliable techniques used in umbrella customisation.
- Vibrant, opaque colours according to the Pantone colour system
- High colour brilliance, even with simple logos
- Cost-effective for larger quantities
- Single or dual printing possible
- Tried and tested for decades in the manufacture of promotional umbrellas

Digital transfer: maximum creative freedom
With digital transfer, a print head transfers the design directly onto the cover without the need for a stencil. This allows for unlimited colour gradients, photographic images and full-surface designs.
- Unlimited number of colours and subtle gradients
- Allover digital printing possible across all panels
- Ideal for photographic images and complex designs
- Effects such as ‘wet look’ or ‘Colormagic’ can be achieved
- Even small print runs are cost-effective
