Responsibility for people and the environment
We define our values in terms of our company’s global social responsibility
(Corporate Social Responsibility).
This encompasses the social, economic and environmental aspects of our activities.

FARE is a member of amfori, the world’s leading business association for open and socially responsible trade.

Since 2021, FARE has been ÖKOPROFIT-certified and has established a corporate environmental management system as part of this.

Ecological
The FARE Environment Team is constantly working on innovative approaches to consistently reduce the resources we use. The focus is particularly on optimising energy consumption and specifically reducing the use of packaging materials to the absolute minimum. In product development, we are increasingly relying on the use of recycled materials, thereby making an active contribution to promoting the circular economy.

Social commitment
FARE is a member of amfori BSCI. Our production facilities have been successfully audited in accordance with the code of conduct. This includes principles such as: fair remuneration, occupational health and safety, no child labour, no forced labour, no discrimination and much more.

Economical
Every year, we expand our product range to include new, innovative products. The proportion of umbrellas made from carefully selected recycled materials is steadily increasing. In this way, we aim to meet our customers’ needs and ensure long-term healthy growth for our company.

CE:FIRE
FARE is taking part in the CE:FIRE project, in which – in our case, facilitated by female researchers from the renowned Wuppertal Institute – approaches are being developed to promote a more circular economy, climate protection and resilience in the supply chain. The findings can be applied to new products or when modelling new processes.
CE:FIRE – circular.frugal.regenerative is funded by the European Union and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia as part of the ERDF/JTF Programme NRW 2021–2027.

waterSAVE®
We use granulate derived from recycled plastic waste as the basis for our waterSAVE® cover material. The fibre is dyed right through during the actual production process (i.e. whilst the yarn is being spun). As a result, FARE saves approximately 6 litres of water* per umbrella.
* Compared with conventional production methods, calculated on the basis of a saving of 2 million litres of water for the processing of around 300,000 m2 of fabric, from which approximately 350,000 umbrellas can be manufactured.

The Child Protection Association and FARE
Our campaign #SCHUTZschirmfürKINDER (Protective Umbrella for Children) has already raised a number of donations for the DKSB.

Lerose Foundation
The Lerose Foundation is a charitable foundation whose aim is to provide active support for children, young people and families in Remscheid. Its 60th anniversary project raised a total of 20,000 euros in donations.

Viva con Agua
With its waterSAVE® cover material, FARE reduces water consumption per umbrella by around six litres* whilst significantly cutting energy use and emissions. Through the #waterSAVEchallenge campaign, we have combined this saving with social commitment and supported the ‘Viva con Agua’ drinking water project.
* Compared with conventional production processes, calculated on the basis of a saving of 2 million litres of water for the processing of around 300,000 m² of fabric, from which approximately 350,000 umbrellas can be manufactured.

Regional commitment
FARE is regularly involved in the region and supports local events such as the Remscheid company run and social initiatives such as the Lions Club. Through this commitment, we strengthen the local community and promote projects that directly benefit people in our home region.

Quality management
Professional quality management: FARE is certified to ISO 9001:2015 by the German Society for the Certification of Quality Management Systems (DQS).
